Q Grader in Laos, Day 1: Physical Assessment and Sensory Language

Our Day 1 recap from Q Grader training in Laos looks back at an introduction to the SCA Q system, followed by green grading and calibration with Coffee Value Assessment. Students worked through the updated CATA boxes on the assessment form to describe their observations more clearly.

At the cupping table, the relaxed lecture atmosphere became focused practice. Students worked on tasting and slurping technique, comparing aroma and flavour while developing language they could use together.

Abile, Khoon, Slurp and Pi-Cafe were thanked for co-hosting, supporting and providing the learning space. The original album records the start of a course whose later daily recaps continue the physical assessment and sensory calibration story.
