People wearing glasses work around a cupping table, photographed through a large red lens.

A cupping table looks different through a red lens. In October 2021, our school shared a sensory practice photograph with learners wearing red glasses around the coffee samples.

The caption explained the purpose: to reduce the influence of the coffee’s visible colour when scoring. It was a classroom reminder to pay attention to what might shape our judgment, alongside the tasting itself.

The original photograph captures that exercise from an unusual viewpoint. Open the post below to revisit this moment of sensory learning.
