We closed 2025 by celebrating a group of 11 Q Grader +plus participants in Bangkok. Their learning brought together cupping, sensory evaluation, triangulation and green coffee grading, with recalibration and a few retakes along the way. The group supported one another through a demanding course.

The learning also extended to Finest Robusta. Alongside the Q Grader work, each participant trained with these coffees and received recognition through CQI’s Robusta for Arabica Lovers program. Comparing coffees across species gave the class another way to question assumptions and describe what was actually in the cup.

Our discussions connected physical, descriptive, affective and extrinsic aspects of coffee value. Students explored Check-All-That-Apply, or CATA, and considered how clearer sensory language can help producers, buyers, roasters, baristas and consumers communicate with one another.

Thank you to everyone who trusted us with this part of their coffee journey. We are proud of the work behind this group photograph and look forward to seeing how our alumni carry that learning into their own coffee communities.
