SCA Sensory Intermediate in Kathmandu: Final Assessment and Graduation
Updated: 4 days ago
Our SCA Sensory Skills Intermediate group in Kathmandu reached its final assessment and graduation with focus and confidence. Hosted at Academy Of Coffee Excellence Nepal, the training brought together basic taste, aroma, triangulation and structured sensory evaluation. The final session gave participants a chance to put that preparation into practice.
Part of the assessment took place in a red room. Red lighting helped reduce visual cues, encouraging students to concentrate on the sensory differences they could detect. Careful preparation, calibration and a consistent approach to each evaluation mattered throughout the session.
We were pleased to see how the group had developed over the course. Students worked through the assessments with commitment and supported one another along the way. These sensory skills provide a foundation for further coffee evaluation and panel work, including future Q Grader training.
Congratulations to the graduates, and thank you to Academy Of Coffee Excellence Nepal, Nepal Coffee Producers Association and HAMRO COFFEE for supporting this learning community. The original album below captures the assessment and the group’s celebration in Kathmandu.
