Santoker Competition Practice Day at Espresso Academic

Before competition day comes the time spent getting to know the machine. At the Santoker competition practice day, competitors used our space to observe how the roaster responded, try their approach and prepare for the work ahead.

The practice focused on energy control, reading roast-curve behaviour and understanding the machine’s response. Competitors also watched changes in the beans and their aromas, using each batch to refine their plans and become more comfortable with the equipment.

Small details matter when a competition begins. This session gave participants time to explore those details while practising, ask questions of their own process and build confidence before stepping into the event itself.

Espresso Academic supported this practice day by providing the venue. It was good to see the campus full of the attention and energy that coffee professionals bring to improving their work.
