Brewing Intermediate in Chitwan, Day 1: Learning Through Comparison
Twelve students worked in four groups on the first day of Brewing Intermediate in Chitwan. The session introduced brewing and extraction, then moved into practical targets that the groups could compare in the cup.
One exercise compared brews with a similar body but different extraction. Students used Comandante and Timemore grinders, learning to adjust for their own equipment rather than assuming one click setting would work for everyone.
Practice continued until 8 p.m., with guidance for each group as they adjusted, tasted and tried again. Thank you to the Nepal Coffee Producers Association, HAMRO COFFEE and Coffee O’Clock for supporting the training. Browse the original photographs from this opening day below.
