SCA Sensory Skills Intermediate in Kathmandu: Tasting, Calibration and Conversation
Updated: 4 days ago
Our SCA Sensory Skills Intermediate class in Kathmandu brought serious sensory work and a lively group atmosphere to the cupping table. Participants spent time tasting, comparing and discussing the differences they perceived.
Aroma recognition and taste evaluation sat alongside cupping, discrimination exercises and triangulation. Calibration encouraged the group to compare their responses and work towards more consistent observations.
At Intermediate level, recognising a flavour is only part of the task. The class also explored accuracy, consistency and how to communicate sensory differences clearly, with discussion helping students examine why coffees tasted different.
Thank you to the Kathmandu students for their curiosity, dedication and energy. There was room for laughter and sharing alongside the exercises, making these days memorable for the group and the teaching team. Browse the original album for the class atmosphere and photographs.
