Our SCA Roasting Skills Intermediate class in Chitwan, Nepal, took place on 21–22 March 2026. Students explored roasting through practical work, observation and discussion.

The class covered understanding the roasting machine, energy control, reading roast profiles and observing bean development. The goal was to connect the decisions made during roasting with the quality of the final cup.

Hands-on experiments gave students a way to ask how a change in their work could influence aroma and flavour. Those comparisons helped move the learning beyond simply roasting the beans.

Thank you to the students who joined us in Chitwan and to our partners in Nepal for supporting the class. Browse the original photo album for more of these learning moments.
