SCA Barista Professional: Sensory Practice in the Red Room
Updated: 4 days ago
Day 3 of this SCA Barista Skills Professional update focused on sensory development. Students worked in the red sensory room, identifying, comparing and describing aromas to strengthen memory and communication.
Taste calibration explored sweetness, acidity, bitterness and balance. Sensory charts helped the group organise observations and find a more structured way to describe the drinks they evaluated.
The session connected those skills with evaluating espresso, adjusting recipes, identifying defects and maintaining beverage quality in café work. Sensory practice supported the decisions a barista makes throughout service.
Thank you to our students for the concentration and questions shared throughout the day. The original album records the exercises and classroom atmosphere behind this sensory-focused Professional update.
