Coffee Value Assessment with Shaun Ong: New Ways to Describe the Cup

Our SCA Coffee Value Assessment class with Shaun Ong brought new forms and fresh discussion to the classroom. In our April 2024 recap, we looked back on a completed course that offered more to explore than we had expected.

A central theme was how to use coffee assessment for different purposes. The class introduced the newer assessment forms and their practical application, with an approach that welcomed people interested in cupping beyond the Q Grader community.

The two-day programme combined learning with an assessment. The original photographs capture classroom explanations, including a discussion around the Coffee Taster’s Flavor Wheel.
